    Life Flight Training

    Recently, the West Pend Oreille Fire District participated in Life Flight‘s on-site training instructed by Dustin Waterbly, FP-C, Life Flight’s Business Area Manager. This training covered lectures on Night Landing Zone Operations, Life Flight Activation, Communication with the Aircraft, and Emergency Shutdown Procedures. Then the West Pend Oreille Fire District team, led by Chief Jamie Painton and Jay Lang, Deputy Chief, proceeded to the airport to continue training as an on-duty Life Flight Helicopter arrived. This training consisted of Landing Zone Command, where a team member communicates with the helicopter and advises of any LZ issues, such as telephone lines, and ground conditions.     9/11 Twin Towers Relic Donation

    West Pend Oreille Fire District Chief Jamie Panton wants to thank Lenore Wheaton, owner of the Mangy Moose, for her recent donation of a 911 Twin Towers Relic. According to Lenora, the metal centerpiece in the picture is from the Twin Towers in New York, and she had a cabinet maker design and make this piece. Also pictured are mugs from the New York Fire Departments she collected from a friend who was a New York Firefighter.
