Life Flight Training

Recently, the West Pend Oreille Fire District participated in Life Flight‘s on-site training instructed by Dustin Waterbly, FP-C, Life Flight’s Business Area Manager. This training covered lectures on Night Landing Zone Operations, Life Flight Activation, Communication with the Aircraft, and Emergency Shutdown Procedures. Then the West Pend Oreille Fire District team, led by Chief Jamie Painton and Jay Lang, Deputy Chief, proceeded to the airport to continue training as an on-duty Life Flight Helicopter arrived.

This training consisted of Landing Zone Command, where a team member communicates with the helicopter and advises of any LZ issues, such as telephone lines, and ground conditions. Then the team practiced loading and hot loading, where the helicopter’s engine is running and the rotors are turning.

Chief Jamie Painton said, ” I appreciate our volunteer fire team turning out for this valuable training with our Life Flight partners.”
